This is one of several paintings I have completed about the Day of the Dead celebrations in San Miguel de Allende. It is a beautiful celebration where families visit the graves of their departed loved ones. Often they spend the night at the grave sites, and prepare the favorite meal of the departed person. The graves are covered with moments and other touching objects. As you walk to the cemetery in San Miguel there are vendors along the way selling flowers. This is a portrait of two young girls selling flowers.

Susan Santiago completed her undergraduate work at New York University where she received a bachelor's degree in Art History. She later moved to Woodstock, New York. While teaching art there, she enrolled in the Art Students' League, (now the Woodstock School of Art) and studied life drawing with Franklin Alexander. After enduring many cold winters there in upstate New York, she moved to Southern California and settled in Venice, then a bohemian enclave at the beach. She enrolled at California State University, Los Angeles, and received a Masters Degree in Fine Art.
