Description
The Day of the Dead is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1 and 2, though other days, such as October 31 or November 6, may be included depending on the locality. It largely originated in Mexico, where it is mostly observed, but also in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. Many celebrations include the creation of home altars to remember the dead, and the cooking offer traditional dishes for the Day of the Dead
Family members of the deceased visit the graves of their ancestors to honor friends and family members who have died. There are also parades and other festivities and many people dress as Katrinas. It is one of my favorite holidays in Mexico.
